📚 Advanced Curriculum: What You Will Learn
The M.A. program moves away from generalized concepts and focuses heavily on textual mastery, research methodologies, and specialized sub-branches of astrology.
1. Advanced Mathematical Astrology (Siddhanta & Samhita)
Siddhanta Jyotish: Advanced celestial mechanics, planetary orbits, and tracking mathematical models of the cosmos based on classic texts like the Surya Siddhanta.
Samhita Jyotish: Studying omenology (Shakuna Shastra), mundane astrology (predicting natural disasters, weather patterns, and national/global economic shifts), and environmental phenomena.
2. Mastery over Classical Texts (Hora Shastra)
Deep textual criticism, translation, and application of foundational astrological bibles:
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra: The definitive guide to planetary combinations (Yogas), aspect strengths, and conditional Dasha (timing) systems.
Phaladeepika & Saravali: Advanced study of planetary transits (Gochara), longevity calculations, and profession tracing.
Tajika Shastra: Learning the art of annual horoscopy (Varshaphala) and progress charts.
3. Nadi Astrology & Muhurata
Nadi Principles: Decoding thumbprint classifications and palm-leaf predictive frameworks (e.g., Bhrigu Nandi Nadi).
Advanced Muhurata: Calculating precise, high-stakes auspicious timings for major life events like marriages, business inaugurations, and laying foundation stones.
4. Applied Research & Remedial Frameworks
Medical Astrology (Roga Jyotish): Correlating planetary configurations with anatomical vulnerabilities, genetic predispositions, and periods of physical illness.
Astrological Counseling: Structuring ethical consultations, psychodynamic approaches to chart interpretation, and prescribing traditional remedies (Gemstones, Mantra therapy, and Yajnas).
Dissertation/Thesis: Most universities require a mandatory research project or dissertation in the final semester on a specific astrological or historical topic.
The program includes in depth conceptual knowledge with practical courses (wherever applicable). The knowledge is imparted not only through class room teaching but also includes interaction with experts in form of guest lectures, seminars etc. and internship/ dissertation for extended applied knowledge.
- The curriculum has been revamped and designed as per NEP-2020 as per FYUP credit framework.
- The curriculum is designed to award BA (Hons with Research) after the end of four years with research work, but at the same time offers multi-entry and exit options too.
- The program includes skill development, ability enhancement, value added courses and mandatory internship/ dissertation aspect that helps to gain thorough knowledge of the subject along with holistic development of the student.
